LUCAP Executive Board Member Presents About Permaculture and Urban Farming
LUCAP Internal Affairs Chair Amanda Williams ('12) addressed a LUCAP General Meeting on March 6th, 2012 with a presentation on permaculture and urban farming. Amanda's talk focused on the sources of the food we buy, and the benefits of switching to a local-foods diet.
Samples of both local and imported foods were available for attendees to taste. During a discussion after Amanda's talk, the audience was invited to weigh in on which they preferred.
Amanda also prepared a handout listing local agencies, such as NOLA Green Roots and Hollygrove Market and Farm, that work to address food justice issues through community gardening.
This talk was the latest in a series of LUCAP General Meetings featuring student presenters. During the Spring 2012 semester, LUCAP General Meetings happen every Tuesday at 6:30PM in Miller 114. They are open to the entire campus community.
