Whirling Dervishes of Rumi Spin into Loyola

Wed, 02/04/2015

Join us for cultural music and a live performance from the Whirling Dervishes from Knoya and Turkish Sufi Music Ensemble on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. in Roussel Hall.

Group members are dressed in traditional white robes and whirl to convey God's spiritual gift to those that witness their ritual movements. The prayer interprets the teachings of the 13th Century Turkish mystic and poet Rumi.

The performance is sponsored by the Atlas Foundation, which aims to promote mutual understanding, respect and cooperation among people of diverse faiths and cultures by creating opportunities for direct communication and meaningful shared experiences.
