The Office of Mission and Ministry will sponsor a St. Joseph altar in the Danna Student Center Thursday, March 19.

In New Orleans, which was a major port of entry for Sicilian immigrants during the late 19th century, the Feast of St. Joseph is a city-wide event. Traditional St. Joseph’s Day altars are usually built and there are also parades in St. Joseph’s honor. Additionally, some groups of Mardi Gras Indians stage their last procession of the season on the Sunday nearest to St. Joseph’s Say known as “Super Sunday,” after  which their costumes are dismantled.
