Short Bio

Peter Rogers is a native of Jeanerette, Louisiana, situated in the heart of the Bayou Teche country. Entering the Jesuit novitiate in Grand Coteau, Louisiana, he followed the normal course of studies in the Society of Jesus and was ordained a priest in 1974 during his theology studies with the French Jesuits in Lyons and in Paris. He began teaching at Loyola University New Orleans in 1982 and has also taught at Texas A&M University and Wake Forest University.

Rogers is the author of Proust: Speculative Scripture and The Mystery Play in Madame Bovary: moeurs de province. He has translated the autobiography of Gabriel Marcel and, more recently, Paul Beauchamps’s Fifty Biblical Portraits, both published by Marquette University Press.
