LUCAP Student Leaders

Jamie Broussard & Chad Carson, Co-Chairpersons

Jamie Broussard is a sociology student in her third year at Loyola. She shares her role of chairperson with Chad Carson. She immediately became involved in LUCAP her first semester after falling off of a bus during Into the Streets, when she was overwhelmed by LUCAP's loving response and care for her injured head. Since then, Jamie has served LUCAP as as project leader for Habitat for Humanity and Students Seeking Solidarity and Internal Affairs chairperson. Jamie's social justice passions include the recovery of post-Katrina New Orleans and seeking an end to violence against women.

Chad is a Sociology junior. He's been a LUCAP member since August 2006. He shares his role of chairperson with Jamie Broussard. He started as the co-chair of LUCAP's Habitat for Humanity builds before moving on to direct the Environmental Action Program and coordinate public relations and advertising as Public Relations chairperson. His favorite cuisine is Tex-Mex and he hopes to open his own fair trade coffee shop, a commercial composting business, or a fleet of pedicabs after graduation.

Josh Daly, Staff Advisor

Josh is a Loyola graduate (M'04) who became involved in LUCAP from the very beginning of his time at Loyola. His interests began in Adult Literacy tutoring and deepened to related issues of racial, economic and environmental justice. After graduating from Loyola, Josh lived in San Francisco as part of a Catholic Worker community and worked as an intern with the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. Before coming back to Loyola, he completed an MA in Theological Ethics at Saint Paul University in Ottawa. Josh is truly delighted to be back at Loyola working with LUCAP and with Loyola's Ignacio Volunteers service immersion trips.

Jonathan Lucio, Internal Affairs

Jonathan is a Sophomore Physics major and has been a part of LUCAP since the fall semester of 2007. He is the Internal Affairs person, his second position on the LUCAP executive board. Jonathan was born and raised in New Orleans and is proud to call this city home. He attended Jesuit High School and has been active in community service since middle school. After he graduates and moves on from Loyola he hopes to continue working to better the community and remain in New Orleans.
